Our stay March 2017

Virginia Lake Caravan Park.

Hi all, I've just came back from a few days at this site.I was very impresed with the disabled shower/toilet, I was quite amazed at the owners, for they showed us where to put our caravan, everytime I saw them, they would always ask if you were ok, and I had to ask them if they wanted to be paid!, very nice family, Im going back but in summer. I would highly recomend this site, for it is friendly well looked after (and we didn't even fish). There's a good play area for the children, and as we were off season the pub was open only weekends, there's a good fish 'n' chip shop at the end of the road, if you dont wish to cook.

Myself, husband and 13 yr old son went.

Just been for the weekend and when we arrived our fusebox had blown. Andy one of the owners went out of his way to ensure we had electricity and the next day fixed our fusebox. Absolutely brilliant.

The site is very clean as are the facilities. The fishing is excellent. The food in the club during the evening was plentiful and cooked to order. The shop stocks all the basics.

We went for a quiet weekend with a quiet drink and meal at night. Despite the start to our weekend we had a lovely time and made to feel very welcome. We will be going back to visit, rest and fish again.

Stayed in this site for 2 nights - Friday and Saturday. Tourer area was very quiet as it was early in the season. We were welcomed when we arrived and shown to our pitch. Lots of room and no-one close by.

There were a number of toilets and showers and all were immaculate. Lots of room in the showers with a mirror, chair and shelf so no problem wondering where to put things.

We had a drink (or two) in the clubhouse before we retired for the night. Most of the customers seemed to have vans there permanently but I imagine this will change as the season gets going.

There was a nice dog walk which we tried out although we don't have a dog.

The lake apparently has a good number of fish and the fishermen we spoke to were very friendly.

There is a very good communal barbecue area which we didn't use but thought it was a brilliant idea.

Wisbech is nearby and the surrounding area is very peaceful.

We would certainly go back for another weekend.

I don't normally go in for site reviews but I have to say the visit we have just returned from to Virginia Lake was without doubt the best week have experienced this year. This was our second visit to the site this year because we enjoyed it so much the first time we had to go back.

The site facilities are superb with plenty of very clean toilets and showers, along with a laundry room. The club is open for superb food at very reasonable prices and a good pint over the weekend.

Even though it is in the fens the whole site is surrounded by well established trees that give excellent protection in an area that is sometimes known to be a little windy at times.

The lake holds some of the best conditioned fish I have seen due to the very practical rules which includes landing and returning all fish using a landing net along with a unhooking mat and is a credit to Andy for all his efforts in ensuring the fish are in fantastic health (This must be what Andy calls a BLUE job ).

Locally you can find a good Chippy about three miles from the site, and good Golf clubs within a few miles, or as Andy calls them (Funny shaped fishing rods).

If you want a relaxing break with friendly people who are always on hand to help you cannot go wrong at Virginia Lake and we will certainly be going back for another visit.

Thanks to everyone at the site for providing us with an excellent holiday in a quiet and peaceful part of the fens.

What a fantastic site! staff were all helpful and friendly, facilities were clean and never full, did not use the washing machines so can't comment on them but everything else was great, campsite wasn't huge so didn't feel lost in the crowd, probably not somewhere I'd take the kids as there wasn't a playground but we went away with the girls and it was brilliant, had dinner in the clubhouse and played bingo (and won!) would definitely
recommend this site, could not fault it in any way.

Just returned from Virginia Lake Caravan Park. We liked it so much we have left our caravan there in storage so we can use it through the winter. If you give them a few days notice they will move your van out of storage onto a pitch, all you do is wind your legs down and off you go. The wife Kaz is already thinking about doing xmas dinner there :-). A big thank you to Andy my car would not start so he helped me get it going.

My sister and brother in law are leaving there van there in the next couple of weeks.

On the whole great fishing, great food ( and beer) friendly staff in lovely surroundings

We have just got back from a 3 night stay at Virginia lakes - this was our first camping trip and everything about this site was absolutely brilliant. The toilets and shower blocks were spotless. The site is very secure with the gates being locked at night. The high light for us was the site having the fishing lake it was the first time for the kids and myself we all caught fish that day and its a good job my husband had been fishing before because our daughter caught a whopper. We loved the site and will definitely be going back.
